Schweizer SGS 1-26E

The E model superseded the Schweizer 1-26D in 1971, being the last refinement in the Schweizer 1-26 series. Despite an increased empty weight, Dick Johnson’s flight tests show little difference between the earlier models and the E. The Schweizer E Model has all the features of the D plus a larger canopy and an all metal monocoque fuselage and tail cone. The fabric is gone except for the movable control surfaces and assembling has been made easier with fewer smaller parts to get lost.
